How Much Are FreeStyle Libre 3 Sensors Worth?
The Libre 3 line is one of the most active things we buy, and there are four separate listings above because they are four genuinely different products. What you're paid depends on which one you have and how many months are left before the expiration date printed on the box.
We buy only the expiration windows shown in those tables. Those windows shift as our stock turns over, so the table is the current answer rather than something to memorise. If your date sits near the edge of a window, send a photo before you ship and we'll tell you where it lands.
Libre 3, Libre 3 Plus, DME and the Reader
Get this part right and everything else is straightforward. Check the box, not your memory — these are easy to mix up.
- Libre 3 Sensor — the standard sensor, priced on its own tier.
- Libre 3 Plus — a separate, newer version with its own part number and its own rate. It is not interchangeable with the standard Libre 3, and quoting one when you have the other is the most common mix-up on this page.
- Libre 3 Plus — DME — the Plus sensor supplied through a durable medical equipment provider rather than a retail pharmacy. Marked differently on the carton and paid on its own tier.
- Libre 3 Reader — hardware, not a consumable. See below, because it works differently.

The Reader Is Priced Differently — and You Probably Have One
Sensors have expiration dates. The reader doesn't. It's a device, so we grade it on condition instead: undamaged, functional, in its original box with the charging cable.
Here's why that matters to you. The Libre 3 works with a phone app, and most people use the app. The reader that came with the prescription goes in a drawer and stays there, often still sealed. If you're clearing out sensors, check for readers at the same time — they're frequently the forgotten item, and unlike the sensors, they don't lose value while they sit.
What We Can't Buy
- Opened or unsealed sensor boxes. Factory seal intact, no exceptions.
- Medicare or Medicaid supplies. Government-funded product — usually carrying an orange label — cannot legally be resold.
- Dates outside the windows we're currently buying. Check your box against the table above.
- Damaged cartons. Crushed corners, water staining, torn labels, pen or marker on the box.
- Readers with cracked screens or that won't power on. Cosmetic wear is fine; broken is not.
- Loose sensors with no box. We can't verify the part number or the date without it.
Why So Many Libre 3 Sensors Go Unused
The Libre line has moved quickly — 14-day, then Libre 2, then Libre 3, then Plus versions of both. Every one of those steps leaves people holding the previous generation, and the 90-day auto-ship cycle means a prescription change almost always arrives after the next batch has already shipped.
Add a formulary change, a switch to a different CGM, or supplies left behind when someone passes away, and there is a large amount of sealed, in-date Libre product sitting in cupboards. It's perfectly good. It's just in the wrong house.

Do you buy Libre 3 readers?
Yes. Readers have no expiration date, so we grade them on physical condition. They should be undamaged, working, and complete with the original box and charging cable.
Can I sell Libre 3 sensors I got through insurance?
Yes, as long as they weren't paid for by Medicare or Medicaid. Commercial insurance supplies you no longer need are yours to sell.
