How Much Are FreeStyle Lite Test Strips Worth?
FreeStyle Lite strips are still in steady demand, and we buy three versions of them. The rate depends on three things: whether the box is retail or non-retail, whether it's a 100-count or 50-count, and how many months are left before the expiration date.
We buy only the expiration windows shown in the tables above. Those windows change as our inventory turns over, so check the current table against the date on your box before you ship.
Retail vs Non-Retail — This Is the Big One
More money is lost to this distinction than to anything else on the page, so it's worth two minutes.
- Retail boxes are the versions dispensed over a pharmacy counter. They carry full retail labelling and command our higher rates.
- Non-retail boxes arrive through mail-order and similar channels. They're labelled differently, and they're paid on a separate, lower tier.
The two can look similar at a glance. Check the box itself rather than going from memory, and if you're not certain, photograph the label and send it over before shipping. We'd rather tell you which tier you're in up front than re-quote after the parcel arrives.
Count Matters Too
A 100-count box and a 50-count box are separate listings with separate rates — and a 100ct is not simply worth two 50cts. If you have a mix, list them separately when you request a quote so the number you're given is accurate.
What Makes a Box Sellable
- Factory sealed. The vial and carton must be unopened.
- Undamaged. No crushed corners, water staining, torn labels, or pen and marker on the box.
- Inside a window we're currently buying. Match the printed date against the table above.
- Not Medicare or Medicaid. Government-funded supplies, usually carrying an orange label, cannot legally be resold. This one is absolute.
- In the original carton. Loose vials can't be verified.
Why People Have Spare Lite Strips
Test strips accumulate differently from CGM sensors. A prescription is usually written for a fixed number of tests per day, and real life rarely matches it exactly — so boxes build up quietly over months.
Then something changes. Someone moves from fingersticks to a CGM and stops testing daily. A meter gets replaced with a different brand, making the strips useless overnight. Insurance switches the covered brand at the start of a plan year. Or supplies are left behind after a death in the family, and nobody knows what to do with them.
In every one of those cases the strips are sealed, in date, and paid for. Selling them puts them in the hands of someone paying out of pocket instead of in the bin.

Do the boxes have to be sealed?
Yes. Opened vials or cartons can't be resold, so they have no value to us.
