Selling OneTouch supplies: what we buy and how to identify it
OneTouch is one of the most common brands we see, and it is also one of the easiest to get wrong. LifeScan has kept the OneTouch name on two completely separate strip systems for years, and the boxes look similar enough that people regularly send us the wrong one. The listings above are split by system for that reason. A few minutes spent matching what is in your cupboard to what is on this page will get you an accurate quote the first time.
Verio or Ultra? Read the box, not the meter
Everything OneTouch makes falls into one of two strip families, and they are not interchangeable:
- OneTouch Verio strips work with the Verio Flex, Verio Reflect and Verio IQ meters. The box says Verio in large type.
- OneTouch Ultra strips work with the Ultra 2 and older Ultra meters. The box says Ultra, and the strips themselves are the familiar blue ones.
If you inherited a supply cupboard and have no idea which meter it went with, the box is the answer, not the meter. A Verio strip will not read in an Ultra meter and vice versa, which is exactly why both lines still sell. Send us a photo if you are unsure and we will identify it for you before you ship anything.
Retail, mail order and non-retail boxes
OneTouch strips reach people through two very different channels, and the packaging tells us which one it came from. Retail boxes are the ones sold over the counter in a pharmacy. Mail order and non-retail boxes are the ones a pharmacy benefit manager or DME supplier ships to your door, and they are often plainer, sometimes marked as not for retail sale.
Both are worth money to us, but they are quoted separately because they move through different channels afterwards. Do not try to guess which category yours falls into. Match the printing on your box to the listing images above, and if two listings look close, send a photo.
The count on the box is a variable in its own right
OneTouch counts are unusually inconsistent, and the listings reflect that. You will see retail boxes at 25 or 30 strips grouped together, non-retail boxes at 50 or 60 grouped together, and straightforward 50 and 100 counts standing on their own. That grouping is deliberate: some production runs of the same box carry a slightly different number, so a single listing has to cover the pair.
What that means for you is simple. Count from the printed number on the box, not from what you assume a box that size holds. If your box says 60 and you quote it as 50, the quote will be corrected when it arrives here, and that costs everyone a round trip.
Meters, lancing devices and control solution
Strips are the bulk of what we buy, but they are not the whole list. We also buy:
- OneTouch Verio and Ultra 2 meters — sealed and unused. Meters do not carry an expiration date, so a meter that has been sitting in a drawer for a long time is still worth listing.
- OneTouch Delica lancing devices — the pen itself, separate from the lancets.
- OneTouch control solution, in both the Verio and the standard versions. These are the small bottles used to confirm a meter and a strip lot are reading correctly. They are frequently thrown away because people do not realise they have any value.
Meters in particular get overlooked. Manufacturers give them away to seed strip sales, so households that have switched systems often have two or three unopened ones. They are worth pulling out of the drawer.
Delica, Delica Plus and UltraSoft lancets
OneTouch lancets are sorted by gauge, and gauge runs backwards from what most people expect: the higher the number, the thinner the needle. A 33G Delica lancet is finer than a 30G. Both are bought, but they are listed separately because they are not substitutes for one another and buyers ask for a specific gauge.
Delica Plus is the newer generation and is listed on its own. UltraSoft is the older line, still bought, and appears in the listings with its own expiration tier. Check which name is printed on your box before you match it to a listing.
How much shelf life your boxes need
Every box of strips and lancets carries an expiration date, and how far out that date sits is the single biggest factor in what a box is worth. Some listings above are split into expiration tiers for exactly this reason — you will see separate entries for boxes with a year or more remaining.
We do not publish a fixed cutoff here, because the windows we buy in change from time to time as demand shifts. The listings above are always current. Find your product, read the expiration tier on the listing, and match it to the date printed on your box. If your date falls short of every tier shown, we are not buying that box at the moment, and it is better to know that before you pay to ship it.
Condition: sealed, unopened, undamaged
Boxes need to be factory sealed and unopened. No writing on the box, no pharmacy labels peeled off leaving a torn surface, no water damage, no crushed corners. Strips are a regulated product and the next person in the chain needs to see an intact box.
An opened box, even one with the vials still sealed inside, cannot be resold and is not something we can quote. If you are not sure whether a box counts as damaged, photograph it and ask before shipping.
How selling works
Find each of your OneTouch items in the listings above and note the quantity. Send us photos of what you have so we can confirm the identification and the dates before anything moves. Once we agree on the quote, we cover shipping. When the box arrives it is checked against the quote, and payment goes out within one business day of that check. Zelle payments usually land within minutes.
If something in the shipment does not match — a count that came in lower, a date that fell outside the current window, a box with a torn seal — we tell you what it was and why before anything is finalised.
