Selling Omnipod Supplies: What We Buy and What It's Worth
Omnipod produces more surplus than almost anything else we handle, for a simple structural reason: pods are replaced every few days, so a 90-day prescription is a large physical quantity of boxes. When a prescription changes mid-cycle — which happens constantly on this system — what's left behind is a stack, not a couple of cartons.

Identify Your Generation First
Omnipod has shipped three distinct pod systems and the boxes are not interchangeable. Getting this right before you request a quote saves everyone time:
- Omnipod 5 — the current system. Important: we can only buy boxes whose UPC ends in 021. Check the last three digits of the barcode before anything else.
- DASH Pods — the middle generation. Three pack sizes, still in steady demand.
- Omnipod Pods — the original system. Legacy stock, and the dates on it run closer in.
- Omnipod 5 Starter Kit (with PDM) — the complete setup package including the controller. Frequently the most valuable single item in a pile, and the one people most often miss.

Pack Size Is Its Own Variable
Pods come in 1-count, 5-count and 10-count boxes depending on generation, and each is a separate listing at its own rate. The maths does not run in a straight line — a 10ct is not two 5cts, and five singles are not a 5ct.
If you have a mixture, list each size separately when you ask for a quote. It's the difference between a number that's right first time and one that changes after the parcel arrives.
Time Is the Other Variable, and It Only Runs One Way
Every pod box carries an expiration date, and the rate steps down as that date approaches. We buy only the expiration windows currently listed on each product page, and those windows shift as our inventory turns over.
The practical consequence is worth stating plainly: pods sitting in a closet are losing value every month, and eventually they fall outside the windows we can buy at all. Older generations reach that point sooner, because the stock still circulating was manufactured earlier. If you switched systems a while ago and the old boxes are still in the house, they are worth more today than they will be next quarter.
What We Can't Buy, Across All Omnipod Products
- Omnipod 5 boxes with any UPC other than one ending in 021. Specific to Omnipod 5, and non-negotiable.
- Anything funded by Medicare or Medicaid. Government-funded supplies — usually carrying an orange label — cannot legally be resold. Applies to every product on this page.
- Opened or unsealed boxes. Cartons must be factory sealed and in excellent condition.
- Product outside the expiration windows currently listed on the relevant page.
- Damaged packaging — crushed corners, water staining, torn labels, pen or marker on the carton.
- Loose pods with no original box, and starter kits missing the PDM or other original components.
Why There's So Much Unused Omnipod Product
Nobody sets out to accumulate pods. A plan auto-ships 90 days at a time and a prescription changes mid-cycle. Someone moves up from DASH to Omnipod 5, or leaves pods for a tubed pump, or goes back to injections. A hospital stay pauses therapy while the shipments keep coming. A formulary changes at the start of a plan year. Or a family is left clearing a cupboard after a bereavement.
In every one of those cases the pods are sealed, in date, and already paid for. Selling them puts them in the hands of someone paying out of pocket, instead of into the bin.

Yes, provided they weren't paid for by Medicare or Medicaid. Supplies bought outright or covered by commercial insurance are yours to sell.
I have a huge number of boxes. Is there a limit?
