How Much Is the Omnipod 5 Starter Kit Worth?
The Omnipod 5 Starter Kit with PDM is a different proposition from a box of pods, and it's worth its own page for that reason. The current rate is in the table above.
A kit is the package a new user is set up with: the PDM controller alongside the starting supplies. Because it contains the controller, it's one of the higher-value single items we buy — and it's also one of the most commonly overlooked, because it doesn't live in the same place as the pod boxes.
It Has to Be Complete and Sealed
The value of a kit comes from it being a complete, unopened package. A kit missing its controller, its charging equipment, or its documentation isn't a kit any more — it's loose parts, and we can't resell it as a starter package.
So before you request a quote, confirm the outer carton is factory sealed and undamaged. If it's been opened, tell us what's actually inside and we'll be straight with you about whether there's value in it.
Photographs help enormously here. One picture of the sealed outer box, showing the labelling and the expiration date, usually settles a quote on the spot.
Why Kits End Up Unused
A starter kit arrives at the beginning of a therapy change, and therapy changes don't always go the way they were planned.
Sometimes the kit is dispensed and the prescription is switched before it's ever opened. Sometimes a second kit arrives because a replacement was issued and the original turned up anyway. Sometimes someone trials the system, decides against pods, and the packaging is still intact. And sometimes a family is clearing out after a bereavement and finds a sealed kit alongside the pod boxes without realising it's the most valuable item in the pile.
In all of those cases it's a complete, unopened, in-date package that somebody else is waiting to be set up with.
What We Can't Buy
- Opened or unsealed kits where the contents can't be verified as complete.
- Kits missing the PDM, charger, or original components.
- Medicare or Medicaid supplies. Government-funded product — usually orange-labelled — cannot legally be resold.
- Dates outside the window we're currently buying. Check the table above.
- Damaged outer packaging — crushed, water-stained, torn labels, or written on.

- Photograph the sealed box. The labelling and the expiration date. That's usually all we need for a firm number.
- Ship free on our prepaid label. Pack it so the carton doesn't get crushed in transit — packaging condition is part of what you're paid for on a kit.
