How Much Are FreeStyle Libre 2 Sensors Worth?

Libre 2 remains one of the most widely prescribed CGMs in the country, which means there is a steady supply of it and steady demand for it. We buy three separate Libre 2 items, listed above, and each is priced on its own tier according to how much time is left before the expiration date.

We purchase only the expiration windows currently shown in those tables. Those windows move as our inventory turns, so treat the table as the live answer rather than a fixed rule.

Sensor, Plus, and Reader

  • Libre 2 Sensor — the standard sensor.
  • Libre 2 Plus Sensor — a separate, newer product with its own part number and its own rate. Not interchangeable with the standard Libre 2. Check the carton.
  • Libre 2 Reader — the handheld device. No expiration date, graded on condition instead.

The Plus versus standard distinction catches people out regularly. If you're unsure, photograph the box label and send it before you ship.

Why Libre 2 Surplus Is Building Up

Libre 2 sits in an awkward spot: still widely prescribed, but steadily being replaced by Libre 3 and the Plus versions. That transition is the single biggest reason people contact us about it.

The pattern is always the same. The prescription changes, but a 90-day supply has already shipped. Or a plan year resets and the formulary moves. Or someone switches to a pump-integrated system entirely. The Libre 2 boxes that were already paid for don't disappear — they sit on a shelf, losing a little value every month.

If you've moved to Libre 3 and still have Libre 2 stock, that stock is worth the most it will ever be worth right now.

The Reader Doesn't Expire — Check Your Drawer

Sensors are dated. The reader isn't. It's hardware, so what matters is whether it arrives undamaged, working, and complete with its original box and charging cable.

Most Libre 2 users scan with their phone, which means the reader supplied with the prescription often never came out of its packaging. If you're gathering up sensors, look for readers at the same time. They hold their value indefinitely, so there's no rush on them — but there's also no reason to leave money in a drawer.

What We Can't Buy

  • Opened or unsealed sensor cartons.
  • Medicare or Medicaid supplies. Government-funded product cannot legally be resold. No exceptions.
  • Dates outside the windows we're currently buying.
  • Damaged packaging — crushed, water-stained, torn labels, or written on.
  • Readers with cracked screens, water damage, or that won't power on.
  • Sensors with no original box.

How Selling Works

  1. Get a quote. Which listing, what expiration date, how many boxes. Photos are quicker than typing and remove the guesswork.
  2. Ship on our label. Prepaid and free, with no minimum or maximum order.
  3. Get paid in one business day. Zelle can arrive within minutes of check-in.

FreeStyle Libre 2 FAQs

How much do you pay for FreeStyle Libre 2 sensors?

The current rate for each listing and expiration window is in the tables above. Rates and windows both change from time to time, so that table is always the live figure.

What's the difference between Libre 2 and Libre 2 Plus?

Different products, different part numbers, different rates. Check the box before requesting a quote.

Do you buy Libre 2 readers?

Yes. Readers carry no expiration date and are graded on condition — undamaged, functional, with the original box and cable.

I switched from Libre 2 to Libre 3. Can I sell what's left?

That's the most common reason people come to us with Libre 2. Provided the boxes are sealed, in date, and weren't funded by Medicare or Medicaid, yes.

Do the boxes have to be sealed?

Sensor cartons, yes. Readers can be opened, provided the device and its contents are complete and undamaged.

How long do I have before the value drops?

Every month brings a dated box closer to a lower tier and eventually outside the windows we buy at all. The table above shows where yours currently sits.

How fast do you pay?

Within one business day of check-in.
