Selling BD pen needles

Pen needles are one of the most commonly over-supplied items in diabetes care. They are prescribed in 100 counts, people switch pens or switch to a pump, and boxes accumulate. All five BD listings above are for sealed, unopened retail boxes.

Two numbers identify every box: length and gauge

A BD pen needle box is described by needle length in millimetres and needle gauge — for example 4mm x 32G. Those two numbers are printed on every box and they are the only things you need to match a listing.

Gauge runs backwards from what most people expect. The higher the number, the thinner the needle. A 32G needle is finer than a 31G, which is finer than a 29G. This trips people up constantly when they assume a bigger number means a bigger needle.

The five we buy

  • BD Nano 4mm x 32G, 100 count — the shortest and among the finest. The current standard for most pen users.
  • BD 5mm x 31G, 100 count
  • BD Ultra Fine Micro 6mm x 32G, 100 count
  • BD 8mm x 31G, 100 count
  • BD Ultra-Fine 12.7mm x 29G, 90 count — the long-needle legacy box.

These are not substitutes for one another. A person prescribed 4mm Nano needles cannot use 12.7mm ones, so each length and gauge combination has its own separate demand and its own listing. Quote each box against the listing that matches both numbers.

Watch the 12.7mm box: it holds 90, not 100

Every BD listing above is a 100 count except one. The Ultra-Fine 12.7mm x 29G box contains 90 needles. That is the correct full retail count for that product, not a partial box, and it is worth knowing before you quote — people routinely assume every pen needle box is a hundred and are surprised when the count is corrected on arrival.

Retail boxes only

The listings above are for retail boxes — the ones sold over a pharmacy counter, in their printed outer carton with the individual needles sealed inside. If your needles arrived loose, in a bag, or in a plain supplier carton, send a photo before shipping so we can tell you whether it is something we can quote.

Expiration and condition

Pen needles carry an expiration date like everything else, and remaining shelf life is the main driver of value. We state our requirement in months of remaining life rather than a fixed calendar date, because the windows we buy in change from time to time. The listings above are always current — read the requirement there and compare it to your box.

Boxes must be factory sealed and unopened, with no writing, no torn label residue, no water damage and no crushed corners. An opened box cannot be resold and cannot be quoted, even with every needle inside untouched.

How to sell them

Sort your boxes by length and gauge, match each to a listing, and send us photos so we can confirm before anything ships. We cover the shipping. Payment goes out within one business day of the shipment arriving and being checked, and Zelle usually lands within minutes. If a count or a date comes in different from the quote, we tell you what it was and why before finalising.

Why sell your BD pen needles here

Buying diabetic supplies since 2012, across more than 150,000 transactions, A+ with the Better Business Bureau. Pen needles are lower-value per box than strips, which is why some buyers will not take them at all or only take them as a throw-in. We list all five separately and quote them properly. Free shipping and a quote before you send.
